Higher Order Thinking Skills in Higher Education (HOTS)

Start Date:

April 14, 2021

9:00 am

Thinking is teachable and learnable. Now, almost all educational reformers suggest that thinking skills should be taughtto all students (Rajendran, 2008). Although the teaching of HOTS has also been emphasised and has been named as one of the core areas in the Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2025), lots need to be done, especially in terms of preparing teachers to infuse thinking skills in the teaching and learning processes. The challenges brought about by IR4.0, the need for 21st Century Skills, and advancement in the field of information technology, make vital that educational institutions from pre-school to the tertiary levels pay special attention to teaching their students HOTS and also ensure that they are able to employ those skills in the work place and in every day life
