Introduction

Passionate about people development, Karen is an exceptional learning facilitator.

She delights her participants through her highly personable and interactive style of delivery.  She leverages on her 20 years of experience in facilitating workshops and an innate ability to relate to people from different cultures and levels to deliver an authentic learning experience – high content and high engagement.

Experience

Karen’s specialist area is the Training of Trainers programme suite such as the Accredited Training Professional and High Impact Train-the-Trainer workshops which she leads in Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Japan, Brunei and the Middle East. 

She has facilitated many Train-The-Trainer and management development workshops across the aviation, broadcasting, hospitality, health care, oil & gas, education, manufacturing, retail, and security sectors. Her passion for people development has taken her to facilitate workshops in 13 countries to date.

Karen has also spoken at a number of international HR conferences in India, Indonesia, Brunei, USA and Malaysia.  Her sessions are peppered with real-life experiences and anecdotes which create rapport with the audience.

Education

Karen has a Diploma in Management from IAM, UK.  She is both an Accredited and Master Training Professional (ILM, UK).  She is a Certified Instructor in Frontline Leadership (Zenger-Miller/Achieve Global), U.S.A. She also successfully completed her Certificate in Training & Development (CITD) from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), UK. Karen is also a Certified Associate Coach.

Training / Consulting Style

With her wealth of experience in facilitating workshops, Karen is extraordinarily versatile, effortlessly adapting to all levels of participants ranging from senior managers and educators to young fresh college graduates.  Her training approach is fully learner-centric and engagement-focussed. Aside from training at SMR, Karen has managed projects and both led and supported the event management, talent search, and sales teams.

Professional Working Experience

She held many positions in in SMR from General Manager, Managing Director, Vice-President, Learning & Development and Chief Learning Officer. Prior to SMR, Karen worked at a top Fortune 100 company based in Singapore.  Her role in human resources gave her the opportunity to work with senior expatriates from many countries, providing her a rich cultural experience. She returned to work in Malaysia’s first commercial TV station in programme and music acquisition before expanding into business development and training at the newly set-up Akademi TV3. Her role included training employees and external clients.

Aside from training and coaching at SMR, Karen has managed projects and both led and supported the event management, talent search, and sales teams.

She is also a member of Malaysian Association of Certified Coaches
